History of DEKOM Engineering

  • 1984 sale of professional video equipment.
  • 1993 Introduction of semi-digital draw technology (LDA), the first solution changing to the optical video disc as medium.
  • 1994 Introduction of the PKI, the only interface to make data reconciliation between analogue modalities and measuring consoles possible.
  • 1997 Development of the DicomView software and a digital archive. The first fully fledged DICOM compatible solution in Germany (University Hospital Magdeburg).
  • 1998 Introduction of DicomFactory, the first DICOM compatible CD producer.
    Introduction of DIANA Framegraber, a solution to digitize and convert analogue radiological image data to DICOM.
  • 1999 Start of the installation of DICOM image processing solutions worldwide.
  • 2001 Introduction of a patient information system via SMS mobile communication technology.
  • 2002 Introduction of the DicomEditor, the first tool to enable the user to subsequently adjust DICOM data (e.g. examination IDs).
  • 2003 DicomWebView release – Web access to any DICOM PACS including automatic compression depending on line bandwidth.

Groundbreaking developments

  • 2005 HL7 – DicomWorklist Scheduler, the only application which not only converts HL7 messages in Worklist but also sends HIS (Hospital Information System) tasks individually to modalities.
  • 2006 DICOM Visible Light Server to link up of endoscopes and microscopes to digitalise whole operating theatres.
  • 2007 Communicator for the free exchange of master data between RIS, CIS, HIS and surgery information systems. Free conversion of Worklist, HL7 and GDT datasets. Fully automatically or manually as order manager.
  • 2008 DEKOM MigrationsTool: tool for the coordinated migration of examinations from PACS to PACS.
  • 2009 Validation Tool: tool to determine the quality of PACS data as regards completeness, correct linkage, missing entries, double entries, etc.
